Moraine Valley Community College will salute veterans during its Veterans’ Week Celebration, Nov. 10-12, on campus, 9000 W. College Pkwy, Palos Hills.
The college is celebrating Veterans’ Day through three days of activities. Marine Corps student vets will carry on the Marine Corps’ 234th birthday through various traditions on Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. to noon in the Student Union. Refreshments will be served.
On Veterans’ Day, Nov. 11, there will be a color guard ceremony followed by a campus-wide moment of silence at 11:11 a.m. The movie “Band of Brothers” will be shown and refreshments will be available. All these activities will commence in the Student Union starting at 11 a.m. and end at 1:30 p.m.
The celebratory week will conclude with a Veterans’ Panel Discussion: “A Look Back and a Look Forward.” Local veterans from WWII to current conflicts in the Middle East will each discuss their experiences and how they differ through the generations. The panel will run from noon to 2 p.m. in Building M.
