Lean Manufacturing Certificate
Why Lean? Why now? The global economy and customers' demands for price reduction, increased quality and on-time delivery makes Lean manufacturing a necessity. This five-week, 24-hour course can help you to produce a quality product more efficiently while eliminating waste and increasing return on investment. (Classes also may be taken individually. VALUE STREAM MAPPING
Value stream is the set of specific actions that are required to take a product family from raw material to the finished good based on customer demands with the least waste. This includes not only improving the material transformation flow, but also the information flow. Topics to be covered are: material and information
flow, selecting a product family, current and future state maps, value stream implementation, and reaching the desired future state from the current state.

5S
This class will introduce you to the 5S method of workplace organization and standardization: sort, straighten, shine, standardize and sustain. This session will help you learn how to organize your workspaces, standardize procedures, and work toward finding anything you need in 30 seconds.

KAIZEN BLITZ
A focused methodology of Lean where a cross-functional team views a process, identifies and eliminates waste, and achieves a dramatic and tangible breakthrough where improvement is the result. The class focuses on kaizen events, continuous improvement and Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED).

VISUAL FACTORY SYSTEMS
The visual factory generates techniques that share important information and make distinctions between normal and abnormal production and quality conditions. Topics to be covered include visual implementation, roles for employees and management, lines, signs as labels, metrics, color-coding, point-of-use-storage, streamlined layout, standard work, and “Andon.” Learn how visual systems can improve your documentation, quality, production, safety, and maintenance while saving you money!

LEAN SIMULATION 101
The Lean manufacturing simulation one-day workshop is the cornerstone to learning all the principles of Lean manufacturing. There is an overview of Lean manufacturing principles reinforced with a hands-on production simulation. Working in a mock company, “Buzz Electronics,” participants assemble a “real” product on a simulated factory floor, incorporating the various principles of Lean along the way. By participating in the Lean simulation, attendees learn ways to eliminate “wastes” while working as a team. Participants will quickly grasp the key concepts of Lean manufacturing, such as cellular/flow production, kanbans, streamlined layout and batch size reduction. Lunch included.

ADVANCED LEAN MANUFACTURING CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
A course for participants who want to delve deeper into utilizing Lean in the manufacturing setting. (Classes may be taken individually. See below.) Courses include:

• Pull/Kanban
• Cellular/Flow Production
• Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
• Lean Teams and Change Management

PULL/KANBAN
Participants will learn about Kanban, the unique information-carrying device that ensures that every operation produces only the amount of a product that will actually be used in the next step of the production process.

CELLULAR/FLOW PRODUCTION
This program discusses the layout of various types of machines for performing different operations in a tight sequence, typically in a U-shaped pattern. Cellular production permits single-piece flow, line balancing and flexible deployment of human effort by means of linked multi-machines working efficiently based on "takt" time.

TOTAL PRODUCTIVE MAINTENANCE (TPM)
TPM is a series of steps to ensure that every machine in a production process is always able to perform its required tasks so that production is never interrupted. Participants will learn how to implement TPM, as well as the Lean strategy of maximizing productive equipment usage.

LEAN TEAMS AND CHANGE MANAGEMENT
Lean teams and change management are the "human side of Lean" and are critical for any successful Lean transformation. Participants will learn how Lean teams and culture change can be implemented efficiently.

INTRODUCTION TO LEAN BUSINESS PROCESSES
This program will give you an overview of how Lean principles can be applied to office processes and procedures such as accounting, purchasing and customer service. Learn to follow your systems through to find roadblocks and waste. By eliminating waste you can improve your processes, reduce wasted time and cut costs, while increasing customer satisfaction and productivity. Some of the wastes of Lean are waiting time, incorrect/incomplete information, non-value added processing, excess motion, and under-utilized people. This is a must for people in banking, hospitals, schools and offices.

LEAN LOGISTICS/SUPPLY CHAIN
Learn to better meet the needs of your customer by working both with them and your vendors by applying Lean techniques to the both logistics and the supply chain.
