Medical Insurance Requirement
The cost for participation in the group medical policy is $393 for the Fall Semester, $582 for the Spring and Summer ($191 only for summer enrolled students), at this time, and is added to your tuition bill. The cost of health care services, including doctor and dentist services, hospital visits and emergency care, is very expensive in the United States. Students need to understand the terms and limitations of the insurance policy offered. Insurance is for your security; you will want to receive the best care possible if you are ill or have to be admitted to a hospital. Insurance protects you in case of any medical emergency, which can cost thousands of dollars for even minor injuries or short hospital stays. Medical services in the United States are of excellent quality, but they are extremely expensive. If you prefer to purchase your own medical insurance policy which can be used in the United States which is equal or better than the group policy offered, you may request a waiver from the group policy. You will need to bring proof of your medical insurance with you from your home country. Students planning to travel and study in the United States should be in good health prior to arrival, and attend to any vision, eyeglass or dental needs or concerns before departure. Mental health services are severely limited and long-term treatment will not be covered. Students who experience bad health after their arrival may be requested to depart the United States for health care in their home country. NOTE: This medical insurance is primarily for protection in an emergency situation and does NOT cover comprehensive health needs of students. Dental and vision services are not covered by the medical insurance policy. The policy offered also does not provide coverage for any pre-existing medical conditions. |
