Host Home Program

If you have requested housing in the Host Home Program, the Coordinator of International Student Housing will make every effort to find and reserve a Host Home placement with a participant in our program. Host homes are usually 1/2 to 6 miles distance from the campus, and students must plan to commute by public bus transportation. The Host Home Program has some great advantages for new students, but it depends on each individual whether this is the best decision for you.

This option is a very good choice for international students who are unfamiliar with the area and want to practice English. The Host Home will usually provide all meals, and is a furnished home with conveniences such as laundry, television and other appliances in the home. Additionally, the Host Home provides a friendly supportive atmosphere for new students as they adjust to their college life. Most international students new to the area prefer host home accommodations.

Students who choose the Host Home Program should try to give us additional personal information. Please feel free to write to our Housing Coordinator to provide more information about your interests, your hobbies, the type of arrangement (a close family or more independent relationship) and other information that would be helpful in placing you with an appropriate host home and family style you prefer. This will help us when we match students and hosts.

Remember:
All students who are interested in Host Home Program housing must complete the Housing Assistance and Deposit form and mail (by express service) the $200 housing deposit fee.
