Office Systems and Applications—Internships/Employment

Internships
Students pursuing the Office Systems and Applications A.A.S. degree,  the Administrative Assistant certificate, or the Legal Secretary certificate may complete OSA-258, Internship, and OSA-260, Seminar.

OSA-258 Internship
Consists of a planned and supervised career field experience relating to the student's occupational program. Students must work a minimum of 15 hours per week for 15 weeks, and written permission from the coordinator is required before registering. Several positions listed below are ideal for students seeking internship work sites. Completing an internship is an excellent way to gain work experience, build confidence, and make contacts for future full-time positions. OSA-260 Seminar is a professional development course that allows students to fine-tune their communication and interpersonal skills, interviewing and resume writing skills, and time management skills. Other topics include projecting a professional image, ethics in the workplace, and professional certification.


Part-time Student Aide Positions
There are a variety of student aide positions on Moraine Valley's campus for which students may apply. Microsoft Office skills and strong keyboarding skills are often preferred. Students must be enrolled in 6 credit hours to be eligible. Students may work a maximum of 20 hours per week. $6.50 per hour.

Information Management Systems Tutors
Wanted:  Student Tutors in the CCT Labs

Applicants should have completed a minimum of five to six classes in the IMS Department which could include IMS-101, IMS-115, IMS-215, MIS-105, MIS-111, MIS-130, MIS-141, MIS-146, MIS-160, MIS-176, MIS-191, OSA-122, OSA-145, OSA-230, OSA-232, OSA-234, or OSA-257 (other courses would be considered) OR applicants should have a strong, working knowledge of Windows XP, the Microsoft Office Suite, VB, and the Internet. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours. Work hours are flexible and can range from four to twenty hours per week. Applicants must be dependable and willing to work with beginning-level students. $6.50 per hour.
