PHP Scripting Language Class
Back again by popular demand for Spring 2010! Register Early!

PHP is a commonly used scripting language. PHP scripting language is used to create dynamic web sites by taking PHP code as its input and creating web pages as output. Cool! Traditionally it is primarily used as server-side scripting. However, PHP can be embedded into HTML. Find out what it’s all about! Build your web development skills and your resume. Take the class - no pre-requisite! Although the MIS-200-200 PHP class does not have a pre-requisite, MIS-105 (Programming Principles) or some programming experience is strongly suggested as a co-requisite. Correction: The printed version of the Spring Mail has an error stating that MIS-200-200 will cover game programming. Game programming will NOT be covered in this class. MIS-200-200 will be PHP scripting. We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this printing error may cause.

Attention: Students Considering C#, C++, Java, RPG, and Visual Basic Programming
Most programming language courses will be held only once per year. You should look at the Course Offering Schedule in the curriculum packets to determine when the courses you need will be running. Students considering starting a new programming language track should check the schedule to determine which semester a chosen track will start. We recommend that you continue taking courses in your track in successive semesters or you run the risk of having to wait for the next offering you need. Not every course is offered every semester.

Jennifer Synal is the 2009 recipient of the award.

“In the summer of 2003, realizing I would need to re-enter the workforce to help pay for my children’s college education, I enrolled at MVCC. Because of the computer skills I acquired, I obtained my first job in the office of a school bus company. Two years later with additional classes and a few Microsoft Office certifications under my belt, I was able to ace the entrance tests at Standard Bank and was hired as the administrative assistant to a senior vice president and two assistant vice presidents. A year ago I accepted the position of executive assistant to the senior pastor and executive pastor at Parkview Christian Church. This job not only uses my education and skills; it fuels my passion to serve others and change the world.”

Congratulations, Jennifer!

Don't Forget the Program Code!—When registering for classes, be sure to state the program code for the certificate or degree you are pursuing. This allows the college to better identify and track career program students. The program codes can be found in the Curriculum packets.
