FAQs
How do I find out about employment
opportunities at Moraine Valley Community College?
Moraine Valley Community College lists vacancies on the Human Resources
Web site, along with detailed job postings. We also advertise in the Chicago
Tribune, local and national publications, and on Web sites geared toward specific
academic disciplines.
How do I apply for a position at Moraine
Valley Community College?
Human Resources strongly encourages all applicants to
apply online for our vacant positions. The application process requires the
completion of an electronic application, and the submission of a cover letter
and resume. All three parts of the application process must be submitted for
your application to be complete.
Some of our support staff positions require a
typing test. It is recommended that the applicant come to Human Resources to
take the typing test prior to completing the application. The application cannot
be processed until a typing test with a passing score is on file. If you pass
the typing test, your score will remain on file for six months. If you do not
pass the typing test initially, you are eligible to re-take the test at a later
date.
What type of application do I need to
complete?
The best way to apply for Moraine Valley positions is to read and review
the job postings on our Web site. Once you determine the position is a good
match with your education level and work experience, complete the appropriate
electronic application. There are three types of applications (see
Job
Categories for definitions) you can complete for employment: administrative
and professional (A&P), faculty and support staff. Make sure you complete the
appropriate application for the position for which you are applying.
How do I submit supplemental credentials?
If the position you are applying for requires supplemental credentials
to be submitted (such as transcripts, certifications, letters of recommendation,
etc.) these documents may be attached to your application or can be mailed to the:
Office of Human Resources
Moraine Valley Community College
Building L, Room L167
9000 W. College Pkwy.
Palos Hills, Illinois 60465
Submit a note with your documentation indicating
the position you have applied for so your supplemental credentials can be
matched with your application.
To whom should I address my cover letter?
When applying for faculty and Administrative & Professional positions, the cover letter’s
salutation can be addressed to Dear Sir or Madam, or Dear Search Committee. When
applying for support staff positions, the cover letter’s salutation can be
addressed to Dear Sir or Madam, or Dear Hiring Manager.
Cover letters should indicate how your education and experience fit the position
for which you are applying. Cover letters are to be submitted as part of the
application process.
Will I be notified when the position has
been filled?
Yes. Human
Resources will send out electronic notification alerting you to the status of
your employment application. |
