Basic Nurse Assistant
Training Program--Frequently
Asked Questions
When will the next class start?
Please visit
http://www.morainevalley.edu/schedule/index.asp and select "Real Time
Availability: for a complete list of HSC-150 sections being offered.
How do I apply to the Program?
Before enrolling in this program, each student must first document a
reading level of 8th grade or higher. To accomplish this, students must take the
COMPASS Reading Placement Test. Successful completion of the COMPASS Reading
Placement Test at 071 level or higher is required for admission to the BNAT
Program. The approximate cost of the COMPASS Reading Placement Test is $8 (See
student resources for COMPASS lab hours).
Some students may be excused from taking the
COMPASS Reading Placement Test because of previous academic work, i.e., college
credits already earned. Students who think they may be exempted from the COMPASS
Reading Placement Test should meet with an Academic Advisor. While all of our
Academic Advisors are excellent, Ali Riphagen and Lissette Alvarado have worked
the most closely with students enrolled in Health Science Programs. To make an
appointment with Ali or Lissette, call (708) 974-5721.
Choose from one of the class sections listed
above. For additional information on registration procedures, visit
www.morainevalley.edu/admiss/registration.htm.
How do I enroll in the Program?
Select the section of HSC-150 you would like to enroll in (see the list above).
Register for the section of HSC-150 you have selected either in person, on the
phone (708) 974-2110 or on the web
www.morainevalley.edu/admiss/admissions.htm.
Does HSC-150 fill quickly?
Characteristically, HSC-150 fills quickly, so it is in your best
interest to register as soon as possible. Students are encouraged to register
for HSC-150 as soon as possible to assure their seat in the class. For
additional information on registration procedures, please visit the college’s
Web site or call (708) 974-2110.
If you attempt to register and find that the
seats in the class are all full, don’t give up! Often times people register for
the class and then change their minds for a variety of personal reasons – family
emergency, spouse transfer to another location, pregnancy, etc. Unfortunately,
there is no mechanism by which a waiting list could be created.
Therefore, if you attempt to register and find the classes are full, continue to
check the enrollments. The easiest way to do that is by consulting the “Real
Time Class Availability” link located on
http://www.morainevalley.edu/schedule/index.asp. Retrieve the information
for HSC-150 and register immediately when you see that a seat is available.
When will I do my clinical training?
After students have completed all of the laboratory sessions, clinical
sessions begin. This usually occurs in approximately the fifth week of the
course.
