Medical Transcription--FAQS
Can I complete the Medical Transcription Program part time? The Medical Transcription Program requires specific career courses (MRT-110, MRT-111, MRT-120, MRT-130) that are also required by the Coding Specialist and Health Information Technology Programs. Students who wish to complete the program on a part time basis are encouraged to take these general courses first, so that the transcription courses can be completed within two semesters and a summer session. Can I take courses at night? Courses required for the Medical Transcription Program are only offered during evening hours. Those classes shared by other Health Information Management curricula (MRT-110, MRT-111, MRT-120, MRT-130) are offered both day and evening. Is there an off-campus clinical Practicum/Internship? The MRT-115 Clinical Practicum for medical transcription students is scheduled as a web-assisted course with some classes scheduled in the computer lab. Students gain practical experience transcribing various types of health reports. |
