Completing the FAFSA

To apply for both federal and state aid, you can apply electronically from your home computer or your local public library by using FAFSA on the Web. FAFSA on the Web is designed to be the easiest and fastest way to apply for federal student aid. It’s a user-friendly program that allows you to apply for federal student aid from a personal computer equipped with the Windows operating system and a modem.

FAFSA on the Web has extensive online instructions, pull-down menus with multiple-choice questions to guide you through the program, and a convenient list of participating schools built in. The FAFSA on the Web application process will be faster if you have a pin number to electronically sign the application.  You and your parent can request a PIN number at www.pin.ed.gov.  The parent of a dependent student must apply for their own unique PIN number. The other option is to print, sign, and mail in the "Releases and Signatures" page of the application.

To complete your FAFSA electronically, click here www.fafsa.ed.gov

You also may apply by downloading, printing, and completing a PDF version of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To download the PDF version, click here http://www.fsa.ed.gov/fafsa/fafsa_options.html

The third option is to call the Central Processing System at 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243) to request a paper application.

The FAFSA must be completed, signed, and mailed to the processing agent as instructed as soon after Jan. 1, as possible, each year for the following academic year. The FAFSA includes the following:

  1. Information from your parent's prior year U.S. tax return, if considered a dependent student for financial aid purposes.
  2. Information from your prior year's U.S. tax return.
  3. Moraine Valley Community College listed as one of the school choices. Our Title IV school code is 007692.
