Last season was my first full season as managing director and the experience was overwhelmingly positive. The patrons and friends of the Fine and Performing Arts Center are some of the most supportive I have ever seen. In fact, support for our programming continues to grow and I’m pleased to say we entertained more than 20,000 people last season in the Dorothy Menker Theater, the John and Angeline Oremus Theater, and the Robert F. DeCaprio Art Gallery. We hope to continue that upward trend in the 2009-10 season and reach even more patrons. One of the most exciting innovations we made last season was our membership drive which created a ticket gift fund. Through the generosity of our first season of members, we were able to offer free tickets for our Theater for Young Audiences season to more than 500 students from area elementary and middle schools. We hope to expand this program for the 2009-10 season to provide even more free admissions. Every $5 purchases a ticket for an area student! Your membership can help ensure that more children have the opportunity to experience live theater. In keeping with the college's momentum toward environmental sustainability, we here at the center are refocusing our daily operations, using supplies that are more earth-friendly, and engaging in practices that help to reduce the impact on the planet. One of our environmental focuses expands our e-mail marketing, which will eventually reduces the number of print brochures, flyers and postcards we mail each year. Please consider joining our e-mail marketing list by visiting the FPAC homepage and clicking the mailing list icon. You also can receive frequent electronic updates by joining our Facebook fan page. Internet marketing patrons are often the first to know about updates, changes and breaking news . . . so don’t miss out! We invite you to become part of these exciting transformations at our Fine and Performing Arts Center. Join us for the 2009-10 season and continue to make the center your destination for world-class entertainment! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me at henselT2@morainevalley.edu or (708) 974-5500. I welcome your input. Thank you again for your support of the arts right here in the southwest suburbs. Tommy Hensel |
