Sylvia Jenkins, PhD

An
employee of Moraine Valley since 1986, Sylvia serves as the dean of
Academic Development and Learning Resources. Prior to holding this
position, Sylvia served as a faculty member in the Library and department
chair. This academic subdivision houses the Center for Teaching and
Learning and the Library. The CTL serves all college employees through
its professional development programs and services. The Office of
Non-traditional Learning is also housed in the CTL and includes faculty
and student support for all non-traditional course offerings.
Sylvia
received the Master Teacher of the Year Award in 1991 and 1998, The
Innovator of the Year Award in 2007, and the Vernon O. Crawley
Leadership Award in 2007. She has served as the League of Innovation in
the Community College Representative from Moraine Valley since 2006.
Sylvia earned her Bachelor of Science
degree in English Education, Grambling State University, a Master’s in
Library and Information Science, State
University of New York at Albany, and a Ph.D.
in
Education and Human Resource Studies with a specialization in Community
College Leadership, Colorado State University.
Sylvia is responsible for planning and
implementing programs and services offered in the Center for
Teaching and Learning and the Library. She also serves on the Academic
Affairs Dean’s Council and the Administrative Council.

Misha joined the CTL in May 2002
after completing an administrative internship with Dr. Vernon O. Crawley
and the Executive Leadership Team of Moraine Valley. She
received a doctorate from The University of Texas at Austin
in Community College Leadership, earned a Bachelor and Master's degree
in Sociology and a second Master's degree in Higher Education
Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce. Let Misha

Misha’s primary responsibilities
include:

Professional Development Program; working closely with the Director
of Faculty Development to design and provide learning
opportunities to faculty

New Staff Orientation and Mentorship Program
- Collaborate with other areas of
the college to create professional development opportunities as

LaWanda
Burrell-Love joined the CTL in January 2009. LaWanda has a strong
passion for learning and development and looks forward to assisting the
faculty. She has over 8 years training and development experience and
served as an adjunct faculty member for two years at Nashville State
Community College.
LaWanda received her Bachelor’s of Business
Administration from Robert Morris College and her Master of Arts in
Instructional Design from Roosevelt University. She also holds MOS
certificates in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
LaWanda’s primary responsibilities include:

Collaborating with faculty on the design
and development of instruction.

Serving as a resource on best practices
in the areas of design and development.

Conduct workshops for faculty that
address their design and development needs.

Advocate awareness of student learning
styles related to curriculum delivery and student success.

Promote activities to expose faculty to
appropriate direct and indirect classroom assessment techniques.

Kristine Christensen,

Kristine began
teaching web development and design, computer programming and e-commerce
full-time in 2000 and joined the CTL staff as the director of Faculty
Development in 2003. She is a full-time faculty member and maintains a
full teaching load. In addition to her primary responsibility as chair
of the Faculty Development committee, Kristine assists in the development
of the CTL workshop brochure, sits on the Steering Team and Advisory
Professional Development Team and has designed, developed and delivered
various workshops for the CTL.
Kristine received the Professor of the Year
award in 2004 and the Innovation of the Year Award in 2007
along with her colleagues who also serve on the MVLA steering team. She
currently serves as a board member for the Chicago Area Faculty Development
Network. Kristine holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and double
majored in Human Resource Management and Industrial Psychology from
Valparaiso University, an MBA with an
emphasis in Consulting from Eastern Illinois University, a Master of
Science in Management Information Systems with an emphasis in Electronic
Commerce from Governors State University and is currently ABD as she
finishes her Ph.D. in Community College Leadership from Old Dominion
University.

development opportunities. She also would like

Northern Illinois University.

Lola Oshinowo,
an employee of Moraine Valley since 1994, joined the CTL in 2008. Lola
previously served as manager, staff and technology training in Human
Resources from July 2007 to April 2008. Prior to that, Lola served as IT
director, Applications Development and Applications Development manager
in the Information Technology Department for approximately 13 years.
Lola earned a master's degree in Instructional Technology from National
University San Diego, a bachelor’s degree in Computer Management from
Franklin University, Columbus, Ohio, and a bachelor’s degree in Computer
Science from University of East London, in England. Lola also worked as
lead programmer analyst and Information Systems manager at The Ohio
State University, Texas Christian University and Devry University.

the CTL in June 2008. She has over 10 years of teaching
