CPR Series
HEART SAVER, ADULT AND PEDIATRIC CPR
This course is designed for lay rescuers only. Learn how to handle basic emergencies until the ambulance arrives. Topics include seizures, trouble breathing, diabetic emergencies, shock, bleeding, bandaging, bites and stings, poisoning, and heat and cold emergencies. The CPR /AED section is also for lay rescuers. The CPR/AED module is NOT for those in the health care professions. Required textbook is available from the instructor the first day of class. ($30).

CPR FOR HEALTH PROFESSIONALS
Meets the requirements for recognition as a Basic Life Support Rescuer for healthcare providers by the American Heart Association (AHA). This course is intended for those who are new students in the healthcare field as well as current healthcare professionals. The new 2005 AHA Guidelines for CPR and AED will be presented. One and two rescuer Adult and Pediatric CPR, Adult and pediatric Foreign Body Airway Obstruction, use of barrier devices, and use of the AED are covered in this course. Required textbook is available at the MVCC bookstore or can be purchased from the instructor the first day of class. (.5AEC) Please see our refund policy.

Critical Care/Trauma
BASIC EKG INTERPRETATION
Learn about the conduction system and its relationship to wave forms and measurements. Discusses sinus rhythms, atrial and ventricular dysrhythmia and A/V blocks. Required textbook is available at Moraine Valley's Bookstore.

First Aid
FIRST AID
This course is designed for the general public and will include such topics as medical emergencies, first aid for burns, controlling bleeding, shock and environmental emergencies. Adult CPR and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) will also be included in this course. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive the American Heart Association First Aid/Adult CPR/AED certificate which is valid for 2 years. Required textbook to be purchased from the instructor. This course does NOT include CPR-HCP.

Nursing
Current Nursing Practice Update (RN Refresher) - Approved by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation. Students must produce proof of current immunizations and malpractice insurance before the first day of class or they will be dropped without a refund. (This course is approved for 10 AEC) Required text available in the MVCC Bookstore. Clinical rotations will be conducted at Little Company of Mary Hospital, 9500 South California Avenue, Evergreen Park. Please see our refund policy. Will meet in the Fall semester.

C.N.A.T.T.T. TRAIN-THE-TRAINER
Prerequisites: To qualify for this program, each student must be a licensed, registered nurse for at least 2 years in the state of Illinois, and possess one year of experience in one of the following areas: extended care unit (may be adult or pediatric), chronic care unit, hospice, home health agency, long-term facility, or geriatric swing bed unit of the hospital. This 32-hour program approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health trains registered nurses to be qualified instructors for the CNA program at various educational facilities in the state of Illinois. The course will include the Alzheimer’s component.

Professional Topics
MASSAGE AND BODYWORKS TECHNIQUES
Massage Modalities / Myofacial Massage Prerequisite: Currently licensed Massage Therapists An active hands on learning experience for developing skills to enable the practicing massage therapist to work comfortably and effectively in the myofascial layers of the shoulder girdle, thorax and abdomen to “free the breath”. These techniques can be used collectively as a complete treatment session or used separately on specific client issues. There will be two complete hands-on trades between therapists. Required textbooks is available in the MVCC Bookstore.
