Note-takers

Some students have disabilities that warrant a note-taker. However, certain guidelines must be followed.

Note-takers will:

  • Use a note-taking pad or their own notes to make a copy for students with disabilities
  • Attend class on time and be prepared to take notes
Note-takers won't:
  • Wait for students outside of class even if students request this
  • Be responsible for ensuring that students with disabilities complete assignments properly or on time
  • Answer questions about course content or assignments when these questions would be better directed to the instructor
  • Take notes for students when they are not present, except for specific arrangements due to health conditions
Students will:
  • Be responsible for acquiring note-taking pads from the Center for Disability Services for use by their note-taker
  • Arrive in class early enough to supply the note-taker with materials
  • Read over their notes to check for assignments and important dates
  • Ask the note-taker about anything in the notes that is not clear
