Al Palar took over the women’s soccer team as head coach starting in 2015. Not only does he bring years of playing, some of which was professional, experience, but also coaching knowledge as well.

Born in Poland, Palar moved to Chicago with his family at age 3. He attended Plainfield Central High School, where he was a four-year starter and two-year captain. Palar was named conference MVP his junior and senior years, and led the team to the school’s first conference championship two years in a row. After high school, Palar became a four-year starter at Saint Xavier University, captaining the team his senior year. He was named to the All-Conference first team twice and led the Cougars to their first national tournament appearance his junior year and to a national tournament win his senior year.

Shortly after graduating, Palar had a brief professional stint with Jagiellonia Bialystok in Poland’s top division, EKSTRAKLASA. He currently still plays for the amateur Schwaben AC out of Buffalo Grove.

On the coaching side, Palar has worked that angle for four years, primarily for the boys and girls teams (8-18 years old) for Inter FC out of Palos Hills. Before being named head coach, he was the assistant for Moraine Valley’s men’s soccer team for the past three years.

Palar holds a USSF “E” coaching license and will receive his “D” license in the near future. He graduated from Saint Xavier University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.

  James Kline
Assistant Coach

James Kline returned to the Cyclones in 2013 as assistant coach for the women’s team. He assisted the men’s squad in 2010 and additionally coached the local Inter FC club team for three years. Kline was goalkeeper at Perry High School in Canton, Ohio, before playing four years at Saint Xavier University. He is a teacher in Oak Park District 97.
