Aleka Letsos, a former Moraine Valley softball and basketball standout, will begin her third season as the head coach for the Cyclones’ softball team. After more than 15 years of combined playing and coaching experience, the 2008 campaign marks an exciting opportunity for Letsos and her players. A former outfielder for Reavis High School in Burbank who was inducted into the Reavis Hall of Fame, Letsos also played college softball and basketball for Moraine Valley before finishing her career at Carthage College. At Moraine Valley, she earned Female Athlete of the Year, and at Carthage, she set a career school record for most hits in one game (5), and finished in the top five all-time leaders for doubles and triples. She also qualified to try out for the Greek Olympic Softball team in 2003 for the 2004 Olympics in Athens. Letsos has given hitting and fielding lessons for many years and has worked at and continues to coach many high school and college exposure camps with Division I, II and NAIA coaches. She is committed to getting many of her players recruited by top four-year universities (Division I, II and NAIA). Letsos has earned bachelor's degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education from Carthage College. She currently teaches fifth grade Special Education at Hilda Walker Intermediate School.
Les attended Reavis High School and earned a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. |
