Summer Camp Information


Moraine Valley 2008 Summer Volleyball Camp

Open to girls and boys entering fifth through ninth grades
Monday through Thursday
June 16 through 19
Noon to 2 p.m.

About the Coach
Gloria Coughlin is the head coach of the Moraine Valley women’s volleyball
team, a position she has held since 2004. She also served as head coach from 1989-2000. She coached the college’s men’s volleyball team for four years (1997-2000), compiling a 58-2 record and leading the team to Midwest Collegiate Volleyball Association league championships in 1998 and 1999.

Coughlin, also the academic advisor for the Cyclones Athletics program, is on the coaching staff of the Celtic Force Volleyball Club, and is former head coach of boys volleyball at Marian Catholic High School. Coughlin played collegiate volleyball at Michigan State University and has a bachelor’s degree from Governors State University.

Goals of the Camp
Moraine Valley Community College’s Summer Volleyball Camp is designed to develop and improve the fundamental skills involved in the successful execution of the game of volleyball. The camp will do this through individual and group drills and instruction, as well as team play. Individual attention also will be given to each camper’s particular needs.

Camp Structure
Each day’s session will last two hours. The camp will be structured to assist campers in their development while making it enjoyable for everyone.

Camp Staff
All sessions will be under the direction of Gloria Coughlin, Moraine Valley Women’s Volleyball coach.

Equipment Needed
Shorts, shirt, socks and good gym shoes are all that is needed to participate. A camp T-shirt is included in the camp fee.

Insurance
It is suggested that each camper have some type of personal medical coverage under his or her parents’ medical plan. Moraine Valley Community College is not responsible for any injuries that may occur during the camp.

Training Room
Moraine Valley Community College has a complete training facility available for campers to use. Ice water will be provided each day.

Cost
The cost of the camp is $65 for the four-day session.

Location
All sessions will be conducted in the air-conditioned gymnasium and Health Fitness Center, located in Building G, at Moraine Valley Community College, 9000 W. College Pkwy. in Palos Hills.

About the Coach
Bill Finn spent 22 years as head coach of Moraine Valley Community College’s men’s basketball team. During his career, he accumulated a 506-210 career record and tallied twenty 20-plus win seasons. He also lead his teams to the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division II national tournament four times, finishing in the final four in 1990 and 1999. Finn was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame in April 2003, and the NJCAA Region IV Sports Hall of Fame in March 2004.
