Men's Cross
Country—Coaches
Mark Horstmeyer has served as head coach of
the men’s and women’s cross country teams since the program started in 2000.
He has guided his women’s teams to NJCAA Division I Region IV and Illinois
Skyway Collegiate Conference championships in 2003 and 2006 and his men’s
team to championships in 2004.
Horstmeyer was selected conference and Region IV Women's Cross Country Coach
of the Year in 2003 and 2006 and received the same recognition for his men’s
team in 2004.
Twenty-five men and women runners have
earned Academic All-American honors. Nineteen individual runners and five
teams have competed in the NJCAA Division I Cross Country Championships, 25
runners have earned all-region and 37 have received all-conference
recognition, including three individual conference champions.
Horstmeyer, who also is Moraine Valley's director of College and Community
Relations and an adjunct faculty member, holds a bachelor’s degree from
Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and a master's degree from Drake
University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Andrea Zylius
Assistant Coach |
Andrea Zylius began her first year as
assistant coach in 2008. She started her running career with the Cyclones in 2004 and
continues to run long distance, ranging from 5K races to marathons.
She earned an Associate of Arts and a Health Fitness Technician Certificate from
Moraine Valley and a Bachelor of Science degree in Movement Sciences—Exercise
and Fitness from the University of Illinois-Chicago. She is currently working on
a Master of Science degree in Exercise Science at Northeastern University. She
is a fitness specialist with Advocate Fitness. |
