Theater Program
|
Moraine Valley's theater classes provide you with the basic training in theater and drama that all students need for a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theater. Our theater professors have advanced degrees from top universities. They are exciting and innovative teachers and theater practitioners. The faculty is not only interested in teaching students, but in allowing you to try your own creative wings in a challenging and stimulating atmosphere.
Each year, the Theater Department stages at least three major productions with opportunities for actors and technicians. Student aide positions are available in the Box Office and scene shop, where you can earn money and learn the day-to-day activities of these important areas. Most major productions are Associate Entries in the Kennedy Center/American College Theater Festival, and students and faculty receive feedback from objective respondents on their performances. Students nominated from these productions attend the KC/ACTF Region III Festival to compete for the Irene Ryan Acting Award and attend acting workshops.
Associate in Arts Degree
Students wishing to obtain a degree in theater may begin with transferable theater course work in the Associate in Arts degree program.
