Strategic Planning / AQIP Timeline
  • Fall 1999—Planning Council is formed.

  • December 2000—The Strategic Planning Council begins its work.

  • Fall 2001—A refined Mission and Purpose statement, Strategic Priorities, Core Values and a new Vision Statement are reviewed in open forums.

  • November 2001—Final Mission and Purpose statement, Strategic Priorities, Core Values and a new Vision Statement are presented to the Board of Trustees.

  • March 2004—Moraine Valley applies to the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) for acceptance into the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) re-accreditation process.

  • April 2004—HLC approves Moraine Valley as an AQIP institution. As a result, college must identify and implement Action Projects by April 2005 and must submit our Systems Portfolio by May 2008

  • October 2004—Strategic Planning Retreat to review and update Strategic Priorities and tentatively identify AQIP Action Projects.

  • January 2005—Team of 12 college wide representatives attends the HLC Strategy Forum to propose and review Action Projects with other AQIP institutions.

  • April 2005—Action Projects are submitted to the HLC.

  • September/November 2005—Action Project teams are named and meet to review team charge, process and organization.

  • November 2005/December 2006—Action Project teams conduct work, periodically report on progress, and develop plans with recommended next steps for the college community to review.

  • September 2006—Another Strategic Planning Retreat held to review and update Strategic Priorities.

  • September 2006—Annual progress report on Action Projects submitted to HLC.

  • October 2006—Systems Portfolio Team, made up of the co-chairs of nine subgroups assigned to work on the AQIP characteristics, is named and meets to review team charge, process and organization.

  • December 2006/February 2007—Each Systems Portfolio sub-group conducts pilot investigation—collection of data for the portfolio.

  • February 2007—Teams and departments identified for responsibilities in Action Project plans and recommendations are charged with implementation by Executive Leadership Team (ELT).

  • March 2007—College establishes AQIP Web site.

  • March/May 2007—Updates and refinements to Strategic Priorities are reviewed collegewide and finalized.

  • March/October 2007—Systems Portfolio subgroups conduct investigation for their designated AQIP characteristic, draft initial responses to questions and collect input from college stakeholders.

  • September 2007—Annual progress report on Action Projects is submitted to HLC.

  • November 2007—February 2008 – Final draft of Systems Portfolio is completed.

  • March/April 2008—Final draft of Systems Portfolio is presented to ELT, President’s Advisory Council, Board of Trustees and college community.

  • May 2008—Systems Portfolio is submitted to Higher Learning Commission.

  • August 2008—College receives Systems Appraisal Report with feedback on the Systems Portfolio is received from the HLC.

  • September 2008—Team submits annual progress report on Action Projects to HLC.

  • Spring 2009—Team attends Higher Learning Commission Strategy Forum to propose and review new Action Projects.

  • 2009/2010—Higher Learning Commission conducts AQIP Quality Check-Up visit to verify Moraine Valley’s commitment to the AQIP reaccreditation process.

  • 2010/2011—Next Reaffirmation of Accreditation from the HLC.
